Important Initiatives
In 2008 NPCA launched the following industry programs:
NPCA's Communications Division oversees the Communications Outreach Program, which introduces industry to the media, consumers, federal/state/local policy makers and regulators. The program includes proactive outreach and educational efforts. In addition, the program provides materials that support the association's Grassroots Issue Advocacy Program and serves the needs of industry members.
NPCA's Environmental, Health and International Affairs Division is responsible for administering and supervising all technical, scientific and related activities. This includes the association's Science and Technology Program, which was established to provide a solid, quantifiable basis for industry's technological abilities and progress. The program is focused on education, research and development monitoring and funding, advancement of sound science, and industry collaboration.
The Government Affairs Division coordinates the paint industry's interests before and acts as liaison with legislative and regulatory bodies at all levels of government. The division implements the associations' grassroots issue advocacy program, called CoatingsConnect. Through CoatingsConnect, the industry establishes communication with elected officials to educate them about issues that affect the paint and coatings industry.
The Office of the President is responsible for the association's Legal Issues Tracking and Amicus Program. Through this program, NPCA acts as an advocate for legal reform. By tracking pertinent legal issues, filing amicus briefs, participating in public advocacy and providing legal research assistance, the association is working toward its goal of restoring the reasonable, fair and balanced principles of our country's legal system.
