Categories of Membership

NPCA offers eight membership classifications that fall within different dues structures and goods and services policies:

  • Manufacturer
    Companies that manufacture architectural, industrial or special purpose paints, coatings, and kindred products, such as, but not limited to, shellac varnishes, removers, thinners, stains, fillers, artists’ colors and roof coatings.
  • Supplier
    Companies that manufacture, broker, or import raw materials used in connection with the manufacture, merchandising, application or recycling and waste management of paints and coatings and related or kindred products.
  • Caulks, Sealants, Adhesives & Printing Ink
    Companies that manufacture caulks, sealants, adhesives, glazing compounds and puttys, and printing inks.

These categories pay dues as computed according to current dues schedules that appear in NPCA’s Bylaws.  All of the Association’s goods and services are available to these classes, including access to restricted areas of our website.

  • International
    Companies that would qualify for Manufacturer or Supplier membership, but without affiliated U.S. operations.
  • Distributor
    Companies that resell materials and equipment used in connection with the manufacture of paints and coatings or kindred products.
  • Equipment & Sundries
    Companies that manufacture equipment used in the manufacture or application of paints and coatings and fabricators.  This category includes, but is not limited to, paint application equipment, paint spray booths, paint testing equipment, brushes, rollers, sprayers, paint shakers and color matching equipment.

These categories pay dues at an annual rate of $3,700 per year.  All of the Assocation’s goods and services are available to these classes, including access to restricted areas of our website.

  • Associate
    Companies or individuals that are not engaged in the manufacture of paints and coatings, or the supply or distribution of raw materials used in their manufacture, but have an economic interest in the welfare of the coatings industry or the individuals working in that industry.

This category pays dues at an annual rate of $1,900 per year.  Most of the Association’s goods and services are available to this class of membership, including access to restricted areas of our website.

  • Subscriber
    Companies that are eligible for Manufacturer, Supplier or Distributor membership and have sales under $2,500,000, but choose to receive limited goods and services in exchange for a reduction in dues.

This category pays dues at an annual rate of $1,900 per year.  Some of the Association’s goods and services are available to this class of membership.  Access to restricted areas of our website is unavailable to this membership category.
