Second Global Marine Coatings Forum Deemed Success

The second IPPIC Global Marine Coatings Forum was successfully held April 9-11in Singapore. There were 47 people in attendance from over countries 20 countries and included marine coatings formulators, active ingredient suppliers, resin suppliers, classification societies, United Nations International Maritime Organization (IMO) representatives and national paint trade associations. In 2007, IPPIC was granted NGO status at the IMO, which gives it unique access to this governing body made up shipping nation states. Many issues that impact the paint and coatings industry are dealt with at the IMO including antifouling coatings and protective coatings for ballast tanks and void spaces.

This Forum focused on how IPPIC can most effectively represent the paint and coatings industry at the IMO and many insightful presentations and lectures were given on the topic. The third global marine coatings will be held in 2010.
