California’s Mojave Desert AQMD to Move Forward with Amended AIM Rule

Contact: David Darling Tuesday, January 24, 2012

California’s Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District is set to present itsamended rule for volatile organic compound limits in architectural and industrial maintenance (AIM) coatings to its Board on Feb. 27.

Of note, this rule, if adopted, will serve as a model for the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District AIM Rule later this year.

ACA had suggested several recommended changes to the amendments in its September comments, most of which are reflected in the amended rule.

Among ACA’s suggested changes the Mojave district made to its amended rule, is a three-year sell through provision for certain coatings, as well as streamlined language and definitions that match up with other California air district rules.

If adopted, the rule would have a Jan. 1, 2013 compliance date.
