Air-Dry Primer in EMEA Automotive Refinish Markets

PPG has announced the launch of PPG DP7000 Air-Dry Primer and a range of dedicated ancillaries across automotive refinish markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). According to the company, the primer dries up to twice as fast as competing air-dry technologies and works in all humidity conditions. Baking or infrared curing can also be carried out when air drying is not appropriate.

PPG DP7000 Air-Dry Primer is fully compliant with European VOC regulations, suitable for use with PPG ENVIROBASE® High Performance basecoats, PPG DELTRON® Progress UHS topcoat and all other PPG topcoat systems.

XENON Introduces Pulsed Light Research System

XENON Corporation has introduced the X-1100/2x Pulsed Light Research System, an upgrade to its research system, the X-1100.

According to the company, the XENON X-1100 has been crucial in advancements in sterilization, disinfection, curing, and sintering applications. The new system, X-1100/2x can generate 7.8 Joules/cm2 of radiant energy/pulse, which the company says creates more possibilities for new applications of pulsed light.

Like the original X-1100, the 2x offers a touch screen interface, which allows the operator  to program pulse energy, duration, timing, and width, and then to measure the actual pulse using the product’s built-in oscilloscope.

AkzoNobel Launches Low-Energy Powder Coating

AkzoNobel has launched an architectural powder coating, Interpon D1036 Low-E, which the company says is designed to be cured at temperatures as low as 150 °C–while still being Qualicoat class one certified.

According to the company, the powder coating cures at temperatures 30 °C lower than traditional powder coatings helping customers cut energy consumption by as much as 20%. It can also cure up to 25% faster than conventional powders, allowing for more products to be coated in less time.

The product is designed for interior and exterior areas of the built environment including building facades, windows, railings, doors, or any application where an architectural certified product is typically applied.

Active Minerals International has introduced Min-U-Gel® 500+, an attapulgite product designed for superior thixotropic performance in both water- and solvent-based formulations for paints, coatings, and adhesives.

According to the company, Min-U-Gel 500+ offers a finer particle size engineered for enhanced dispersion and adsorption properties. It also demonstrated its capacity for comparable performance to leading attapulgite products.
