The following industry professionals have recently received appointments or promotions.

 

Hockmeyer Equipment Corporation has appointed Danny Thomas as president and chief operating officer (COO). Thomas’ career spans more than three decades in production, supply chain management, and operations. He has been with Hockmeyer for seven years, serving in various roles as an operations executive. He holds an MBA from Campbell University.

ASTM International has appointed Andrew G. Kireta Jr. as the organization’s new president, effective May 1. He will succeed Katharine Morgan, who has served in the role since 2017 and will retire after a distinguished 40-year career with ASTM, one of the oldest and largest standards organizations in the world.

The organization says Kireta’s background in standards development and familiarity with the organization uniquely positions him to lead ASTM International into future growth and innovation. In his most recent role, Kireta served as president and CEO of the Copper Development Association, a  not-for-profit trade association. He joined the association in 1992 and spent the past two decades in an executive management capacity.

Kireta has been an ASTM International member since 1998. He joined the board of directors in 2014, serving as chair of the audit and finance committee in 2017, vice chair in 2018 and 2019, and chair of the board in 2020. Kireta also previously served as vice chair and chair of the board of SEI International, an ASTM affiliate.

The Metro New York Printing Ink Association (MNYPIA) has named David Biro as president. Biro replaces Dan Shevkun, who has retired from Superior Printing Ink.

Biro is currently the director of narrow web and sheet fed technology at Sun Chemical in Carlstadt, NJ. His experience extends from graphic arts, coatings, UV/EB inks, coatings and adhesives, hygiene, and preservation solutions, including formulations for the paint, coatings, and protection markets. The technologies are used in plastics, metal working, inks, coatings, adhesives, wood protection, corrosion inhibition, and surfactant chemistry.

PPG has named Lyndee Brassieur vice president, environment, health and safety (EHS). Brassieur succeeds Mark Cancilla, who retired from PPG.

PPG says Brassieur will be responsible for the EHS and product stewardship organizations, as well as global initiatives focusing on employee safety, incident prevention, regulatory compliance, environmental performance. She will work in close partnership with leaders from across the company to define EHS policies, develop a corporate strategy around health and safety.

Brassieur holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering with a concentration in environmental science from McNeese State University and is a Six Sigma Lean Black Belt.

Lubrizol has announced Sander van Donk as the vice president, Europe, in addition to his role as vice president, Lubrizol Additives, Europe. Prior to his time at Lubrizol, van Donk held positions at Sulzer, Neste, and Honeywell. He holds a Ph.D. in industrial catalysis from Utrecht University

The Executive Leadership Council (ELC), an independent non-profit organization, has selected Jason McAlpine, senior vice president of BASF’s performance materials business in North America, to join its 2024 class.

The ELC is a global organization of more than 800 current and former Black CEOs, corporate board members, senior executives of Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies, entrepreneurs at top-tier firms, and industry thought leaders. The ELC says its mission is to increase the number of successful Black executives by adding value to their development, leadership, and philanthropic endeavors through the life cycle of their careers, thereby strengthening their companies, organizations, and communities.

In his current role at BASF, McAlpine is the executive sponsor for the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI), a member of BASF’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council, and serves on the board of visitors at Wayne State University’s College of Engineering.

Sheboygan Paint Company has announced that Josh Land has been promoted to Research & Technology Development group leader, a role in which he will lead the R&D team in developing coatings solutions in the company’s Cedartown, GA, laboratory.

During his two-year tenure at Sheboygan Paint Company, Land has launched a fully commercialized product, established a partnership with Berry College to access on-campus lab technology and analytical tools, and added internal analytical tools for improved quality control of raw materials and faster development of new products.

Land holds a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Berry College and earned a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Frank Richter has been elected as chairman of the ALTANA supervisory board. Richter, who serves as managing director of SKion GmbH, takes over from Matthias L. Wolfgruber, the former chairman of the management board of ALTANA.

Ruud Joosten, CEO of the executive board of Royal BAM Group since 2020, has been elected to ALTANA’s supervisory board. Meanwhile, Ulrich Gajewiak and Susanne Klatten continue in their roles as deputy chairpersons of the Supervisory Board.

Coval Technologies has announced the appointment of Kip Tindell as a new regional sales manager. Coval says Tindell will build new customer relationships and enhance existing client management in the south-central region of the United States. Tindell’s experience in sales, flooring systems, and customer service covers a broad range of responsibilities, including supervising 40-60 individuals and overseeing operations for $10 million annual revenue in his division.
