PFAS-free Product Solutions for Films, Pipes, Profiles, and More
BYK has introduced two innovative PFAS-free product solutions that its says master many current challenges in the production of films, pipes, profiles, fibers and more for the thermoplastics industry. BYK-MAX P 4109 and BYK-MAX P 4110 are designed to prevent melt fracture, reduce the viscosity of the melt, reduce die build-up, and allow faster material changes.
With both solutions, new polymer processing aids (PPA), which are thermostable and designed to be easy to handle, meet current international initiatives regarding the restriction of PFAS. Both are PFAS-free and are designed to allow a high production speed while preventing melt fracture and reducing die build-up, which leads to less maintenance and shorter downtimes.

Evonik Expands Its TEGO® Therm Product Range
Evonik is expanding its TEGO® Therm product range to provide heat protection and fire-resistant coatings for electric vehicle (EV) battery housings and covers. Coatings based on Evonik’s TEGO® Therm products are a solution to the industry’s demand for effective thermal insulation barriers, which are essential for preventing thermal runaway in EV batteries.
TEGO® Therm HPG 4000 granules boast a microporous silica core that the company says provides low thermal conductivity, high hydrophobicity, and reduced flammability. TEGO® Therm HPG 6806, a finer silica-based granule, is reported to strengthen mechanical performance and ensures smooth, even surfaces of insulation coatings. Finally, the company reports the waterborne polysiloxane hybrid binder, TEGO® Therm L 300, further enhances thermal stability and fire resistance of protective coatings.
Coatings based on this range of products meet the UL 94 V-0 fire safety standards. Evonik says the versatility of TEGO® Therm allows for spray application on complex three-dimensional substrates, ensuring complete and efficient fire resistance of the coverage of every contour of the battery housing.
