The following industry professionals have recently received appointments or promotions.
Hempel has appointed Emilie Barriau as chief technology officer, a new position in the Executive Group Management, which the company created in 2021.
Barriau, an experienced senior innovation executive, spent 15 years with Henkel Adhesives Technologies, serving transport, metals, and electronics industries in various roles. She later joined Ecolab in 2021 where she became vice president in research, development, and engineering. Barriau holds a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry from University of Mainz, Germany.
Evonik has named Guido Skudlarek president of the North America region, while Bonnie Tully, who has led the region since 2020, has been named chief operations officer for North America. According to the company, Skudlarek and Tully are expected to contribute their unique skill sets to the next phase of Evonik’s growth trajectory in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Skudlarek most recently served as head of operations excellence at Evonik’s headquarters in Essen, Germany. He studied business administration and engineering in Germany and the U.K. and holds a doctorate from the University of Bayreuth, Germany.
Tully, who studied mechanical engineering at Texas A&M, has more than 30 years of experience at Evonik and its predecessors. She will oversee the expanding operations in a region that recorded €3.8 billion in revenue in fiscal 2023, a quarter of the group’s total.
AZZ Inc., provider of hot-dip galvanizing and coil coating solutions in North America, has appointed Jason Crawford as chief financial officer, replacing Philip Schlom, who will remain with the company in a consulting role to ensure a smooth transition.
Crawford, who has more than 20 years of progressive experience in senior-level accounting and finance roles, has a record of success in merger and acquisition transactions. He earned his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
PPG announced that Alejandro Lopez, currently global finance director for automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) coatings, has been named director, investor relations. Lopez replaces Jonathan Edwards, who will transition to succeed Lopez as global finance director for automotive OEM coatings.
Lopez, who brings more than 20 years of business and international experience to the investor relations role, began his career at PPG in 2006 and advanced through various finance roles of increasing responsibility. Prior to joining PPG, Lopez worked at General Electric Appliances. He earned an MBA from Michigan State University.
JNS-SmithChem, LLC announced that Michael Maginnis has been appointed regional sales manager covering the company’s Southeastern territory.
Maginnis began his career as a coatings chemist for Benjamin Moore and continued as an application engineer for Honeywell. He has since held several key positions in sales and sales management for companies such as King Industries and Vertellus Performance Materials.
Maginnis holds an MBA in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson.
