Syensqo achieved validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets for 2030. The company now aims to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% compared to its 2021 level1. It also commits to reduce its Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% in the same timeframe.
The company’s 2030 ambition is in line with a 1.5°C trajectory and prepares for Syensqo’s objective to achieve carbon neutrality of its Scope 1 and 2 by 2040 with reducing emissions by at least 80% compared to 2021 and compensating residual, hard-to-abate emissions with high-integrity credits.
According to Ilham Kadri, CEO of Synesqo, “ Our validated 2030 targets reflect our dedication to reducing GHG emissions in our operations and value chain. We are proud to lead the way in decarbonization of the industry with a goal of carbon neutrality by 2040.”
To advance concretely on its Scope 3 emissions reduction, the company is launching a Climate Pledge targeting a mutual agreement with at least its top 70 suppliers, which account for c.80% of the group’s GHG emissions from raw materials purchased, with the aim of creating more sustainable value chains across its markets.
