Waterborne Basecoat for Bodyshops
AkzoNobel has introduced Sikkens Autowave Optima, a new generation waterborne basecoat for vehicle repair. With “one-stop application” in the spray booth, Autowave Optima is designed to achieve up to 50% faster process times compared with conventional basecoat application methods. This results in a reduction of energy costs and carbon emissions of up to 60%, the company says. In addition, AkzoNobel reports that the basecoat’s high pigmentation requires only 1.5 coats, resulting in materials savings of around 15% on average.

Cleaning System for Mixing Vessels
OFRU Recycling has launched the CS-2 mixing vessel cleaning system, intended for cleaning mixing vessels used in the paints, adhesives, and sealants industries. The CS-2 enables thorough cleaning of the interior and exterior surfaces of containers, pots, and vessels to remove residues such as paints, adhesives, and chemicals. Using a combination of mechanical brush technology and specialized cleaning liquid, the system is designed to optimize production workflows and reduce manual cleaning efforts.
The cleaning system can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of the user and can operate with different cleaning and rinsing agents (liquids) at a maximum temperature of 60°C.

Flooring Adhesives
Sika has introduced SikaBond®-5900 and SikaBond®-5800, two flooring adhesives designed for the interior installation of luxury vinyl tile, luxury vinyl plank, vinyl sheet goods (heterogeneous/homogeneous), fiberglass backed sheet vinyl, carpet tile, rubber flooring, and more, for both residential and commercial applications. Formerly known as DriTac 5900 MegaBond and DriTac 5800 ToughBond, these product formulas have transitioned to a new generation of flooring adhesives under the SikaBond® umbrella. According to the company, the products have maintained the DriTac pressure-sensitive technology and high moisture resistance, and now feature an increased shelf life, easy spread capabilities, low odor, and easy clean up.

Gasoline-Powered Air Compressor/Generator
GenAer, has introduced PG2040RS, a gasoline-powered air compressor and generator combination unit. Intended for spray foam and coating, mobile welding, and cutting operations, the PG2040RS is designed to offer the power and durability of a diesel-powered unit, but with an enclosed, modular design. According to the company, the enclosed design enables the unit to be quieter than similar units, so operators can avoid the added expense of building a wall or separate components within their rig to reduce noise. GenAer reports that the low-speed engine runs at approximately 2000 RPM, resulting in increased engine life.

Ink Series for Commercial Printing
Germany-based hubergroup has launched its new DYNAMICA Ink Series. The company notes that this color-intensive, fast-setting ink series is free of mineral oil and cobalt drier. Formulated for commercial printing, the ink series is designed to be compatible with the latest high-speed commercial printing machines, and is suitable for a wide range of jobs across various substrates.
Additional features reported include a low dot gain, high dampening tolerance, and high fountain solution tolerance and stability, even under varying press conditions.
