IMCD announced the relocation and opening of the new IMCD Coatings & Construction Laboratory to serve customers throughout North America.

Located near Philadelphia, Pa., the new 6,400-square-foot laboratory will expand IMCD’s technical capabilities to include construction, in addition to its existing capabilities for industrial coatings, decorative paints and adhesives. The new facility will also provide training accommodation for IMCD’s commercial team, and the company plans to offer customer seminars and academies.

“The opening of the new IMCD Coatings & Construction Laboratory in the U.S. reinforces our dedication to serve our supplier partners and customers not just as a distributor, but a formulator and solutions provider in driving marketplace innovation. This is just the beginning of future investments to enhance our services and technical capabilities in North America, furthering our commitment to adding sustainable value,” said Müge Tamkan, Americas vice president, IMCD Coatings & Construction.

The laboratory will provide formulation support for various coatings and construction applications throughout North America. The expanded laboratory includes equipment such as a rheometer, optical tensiometer, bubble pressure tensiometer, taber abrasion, spray booth and flexural and compressive testing machine.

Although the new facility adds a construction laboratory to the company’s existing North America capabilities, IMCD says that the space was designed to accommodate future investments in expanding its technical support into the printing inks, textile and paper industries.
