Syensqo reports that its Kallo-Beveren production facility in Belgium has achieved carbon neutrality by running exclusively on renewable energy. The facility produces Syensqo’s Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) specialty polymer compounds.
The transition covers the complete decarbonization of the plant regarding direct and indirect emissions under the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. According to Syensqo, it is in line with the company’s One Planet Sustainability Strategy targets to reduce direct and indirect emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
“Using renewable energy to power our compounding operations at Kallo-Beveren is a first step in Syensqo’s global commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, says Johan Van Vlierberghe, Kallo-Beveren site manager. “It is still the very beginning of this journey for our company, and I am proud of the contribution the team at the Kallo site has made in working toward this goal.”
